The FPGA Development kit is designed to offer design engineers a platform for development on the Altera device family. This extremely cost-effective kit is also designed to give design engineers the opportunity to explore the features of the Altera family.

The kit contains an EP1K100QC208-3 device with 100,000 usable gates and up to 141 user I/O pins. Its In Circuit Programmability (ISP) feature enables the user to reconfigure the device at anytime. In addition to its high gate count device, this product has other features including a wealth of I/O, memory and functional expansion options and software support.

The software provided with the kit supports circuit development in Altera Hardware Description Language (AHDL), Very high-speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language (VHDL) & graphic editor. It comes with an extensive library of intellectual property (IP) cores and software programs to enable the user to develop complex systems on a single chip (SOPC). The entire design can be simulated and then verified by configuring the on board FPGA.

The EISA bus expansion slots on the kit allow the user to expand its capabilities with additional hardware. The kit permits easy interface to desktop computers through ports.

The kit is the ideal prototype and design platform for a wide range of applications, such as industrial automation, testing and diagnostic equipment, avionics systems, and automotive & medical control devices. The kit bundles all the necessary hardware and software for a robust out-of-the-box experience for both hardware and software engineers.
