COURSE A20: UNI-DIRECTIONAL SHAFT ENCODER INTERFACE LOGIC
USES
In digital control systems,for speed feedback from rotating machines,such as, motors,
generators, Turbines etc.
PREREQUISITES
Course-A1. Introduction to VHDL and VLSI design (I)
CONTENTS
1. Frequency divider for internal timing and control.
2. Understanding the construction of, uni-directional, optical, shaft encoders
3. Double buffered bus Interface logic, for 8/16 bit CPUs, for handshake free reading.
4. Debouncing and synchronizing the shaft encoder input pulses for removal of noise.
5. Designing the one clock wide, ‘One Shot’ logic.
6. Calculating the time interval between sequential pulses.
7. Calculating speed. |
