The above VLSI components
will be designed in VHDL, each will be designed and simulated on the MAXPLUS+2 software from ALTERA inc. Each of these will be implemented on the VLSI design kit. Finally the controller designed by the student will replace the one designed by us and implemented on the DC drives present in our laboratory.

PREREQUISITES


        Knowledge of power electronics related to 3 phase SCR Converters
        Course-A1. Introduction to VHDL and VLSI design (I)


CONTENTS


        1. Frequency divider for internal timing and control.
        2. Bus interfacing logic for 8 and 16 bit CPUs.
        3. Synchronisation pulse lock and generation of 6 synchronisation pulses from one input.
        4. Phase Control logic for 3 phase SCR converters.
        5. Design of Decoding logic for switching each of the six SCRs in a 3 phase bridge.
        6. Design of SCR Gate-Cathode pulse.
